I hope to learn how social work is practiced in Hungary and Romania and how culture, history, and community values shape the way people support one another. From a professional perspective, I want to grow in my ability to listen, observe, and communicate respectfully, especially when working across cultural and language differences. I am looking forward to understanding how social workers adapt their approaches to meet the needs of different communities and how care is expressed in everyday settings outside of what I am familiar with.
On a personal level, I hope this experience helps me become more open-minded, adaptable, and confident in unfamiliar environments. I am excited to immerse myself in new places, learn from people with different lived experiences, and gain a deeper appreciation for how identity and community are shaped by culture and history. I am especially curious about daily life in Hungary and Romania and how people connect, support each other, and build a sense of belonging.
At the same time, I feel nervous about language barriers, navigating new environments, and stepping outside my comfort zone. However, I see these challenges as part of the learning process. I hope that by facing them, I will heal my inner side throughout this journey.
